Over two full days we visited Matera, Alberobello, Lecce and Otranto. This gave us a lovely overview of different local histories and architectures as we took in the region's beautiful scenery. In each city we had pre-booked entry to the major churches as well, which meant we had a seamless tour from start to finish.

Michele is a friendly and interesting guide who obviously knows his subject very well. He was also really helpful in answering any questions I had, both before and during the trip. I wouldn't hesitate to book more tours with the company if I go back to Puglia in future.

We had some timing difficulty due to a strike by airway workers and were at risk of losing our hotel night in Monopoli, but he reassured us that the train would work instead, suggested some train departures, and it all worked perfectly.

So glad we didn't miss out, it was worth every penny!

Once we got to Matera, Michele gave us the most incredible and informative tour. Taking us to the little places that told the history without just being the tourist locations as well as walking us through the city providing so much information. Michele gave us lunch recommendations before taking us onwards to Alberobello. Again once we arrived he took us to all the best pets including walking us through some of the old streets which were much quieter than the tourist streets. We could see how the cheese was made at a traditional farm (masseria). In the end we could also taste many different types of cheese!   I've used services of Apulia Slow travel already several times in the past. Michele and his wonderful approach to tour organisation, as well as obvious love for Apulia made me... read more and my friends, not only fall in love with this amazing Italian region, but come back many times always looking for new stories and new places. And he always delivered. However, this time I thought it may be a time for something different. So we wanted to go to Sicily. You may ask yourself now, why is she writing here about Sicily? Well, because Michele is an amazing tour guide. I thought why don't we ask him for advice about visiting Sicily. And he delivered this too. He helped us organize another amazing Italian experience by suggesting the itinerary, what to do and how to get there. So we ended up in the Aeolian islands and Sicily, having amazing volcanic adventures and overall new Italian experiences with amazing food and tours.
Some years ago we started a saying "Ask Michele" for everything related to Apulia. And now he proved once again that when it comes to Italy and especially Apulia there is nothing better than to do just that "Ask Michele".

  I reached out to Michele a few weeks before bringing my family all the way to Puglia for my wedding in early June 2022. While I was wrapped up in... read more last-minute wedding planning the days before the wedding, I needed to find a few different "experiences" that would highlight some great parts of the region to them in a way that was easy to digest, good for a toddler (age 3) and also great for adults who had never been this far from the US before.

Michele was able to put together 2 morning (half day) itineraries including transportation to/from their accommodations that were exciting and unique to them. The first was to the Ostuni area for a cheese-making experience and tasting at a Masseria, and then a walk around the historic city. The second was a few days later to Alberobello to see the trulli houses.

Although I didn't personally attend either of these tours, I know that my family was in EXCELLENT hands with Michele. His attention to detail during the planning process, and thoughtfulness to everyone's needs and moods was greatly appreciated. He was very communicative with me over Whatsapp throughout their experiences so I was aware of their timing as well.

I would absolutely recommend Michele's touring company to any family and friends who come to Puglia in the future. And if my family makes another trip to Puglia in the future, I know they would definitely want to see more of the region with Michele.
