A week tour in Puglia

What to do in Puglia for 7 days.

A week in Puglia with a private professional driver and english speaking tour guide is the best way to visit and experience this beautiful region of Southern Italy and enjoy the beauty of the fantastic countryside. If you just have 3 or 5 days or only a weekend, do not worry, we can also customize a tour for you!

Let’s start: as for your accommodation you can decide to stay in a hotel in town (Ostuni or Monopoli – both beautiful quaint towns located in the heart of Puglia) so that you can always have a walk in town, go out for dinner or a coffe whenever you want. As second option you can decide to stay in a very authentic Masseria in the countryside of Ostuni. In this case during your leisure time you will enjoy the quiet countryside, the Trulli, the swimming pool, the stunning landscape, the perfect architecture and the warmth of the local limestone. In case you want to go out at night you can still book a taxi to Ostuni. During this week a private driver and an english speaking tour guide and travel specialist will let you see the “must see of Puglia”, starting with Ostuni, an olive oil mill, Bari, Alberobello UNESCO World Heritage Site, Otranto and Lecce.

Want to see or experience more?

In that case, you can customize your itinerary by adding one of our special packages focused on food trips, arts and architecture or bike, trekking and nature (see below).

Your charming Trulli-Masseria accommodation in the countryside of Ostuni

Want to see more about your accommodation? Here you can see all the details and information you need. If you do not like a stay in the countryside because you prefer to stay in the town to experience the southern Italian lifestyle and all day life you can ask for a hotel in Ostuni (very centrally located) as alternative.

Puglia one week itinerary

Day 1

Pick up service and welcome dinner

We welcome you at the airport/train station and drive you to the accommodation. In the evening we go out for a welcome dinner in a restaurant. Indulge yourself with the colors, tastes and scents of Apulian cuisine, which call to mind the generous harvests of a luxurious countryside.

Day 2

Ostuni, olive oil farm and olive oil tasting
(half day trip: morning + lunch time)
Free afternoon and evening*

The gleaming white city of Ostuni sits atop the last hill of the southern Murgia plateau. Looking out from its fortifications, your eye is drawn over a plain full of ancient olive trees toward the crystal blue waters of the Adriatic Sea. While in Ostuni, you will take a walking tour through narrow streets lined with white-washed buildings, ending at the town’s sophisticated Gothic cathedral. After that, we will discover the “green gold of Puglia”. We will visit a traditional olive oil mill. Here, we we will learn about the traditional method of olive oil process, which uses granite millstones, as well as themodern processing system. We will taste seven different extra virgin olive oils produced by this olive oil farm in the heart of the wonderful Itria Valley.

Day 3

Free day on your own

During your free time at the masseria we offer to you the possibility to drive you to Ostuni or other small authentic towns in the surrounding area in order to go for a stroll in the white city or maybe to have lunch in one of the several trattoria. We can also drive you to the best beaches near Ostuni to enjoy the crystal clear water of the Mediterranean sea or to a beach club in Ostuni. In aternative you can book another day trip you can see below*.

Day 4

Bari and St.Nicholas Basilica. Alberobello and Trulli
(full day trip: morning + early afternoon)
free evening*

Bari is the capital of Apulian Romanesque style. While here, you will see the two faces of the city. First, you will visit the French-influenced Murat quarter, with its elegant 19th Century theaters and majestic Liberty-style palaces. From there, you will visit picturesque old Bari, full of ancient traditions, seaside fish markets, narrow lanes, and homemade orecchiette pasta. During the guided tour, you will experience the austere beauty of several Romanesque churches, including the religious soul of the city, the Basilica of St. Nicholas.
Alberobello will crown your day with its timeless, fairy-tale beauty. The town is Itria Valley’s premier location to see trulli, the cone-shaped houses distinctive to Apulia, making it the most enchanting part of Italy’s heel.

Day 5

Free day on your own*

You can either relax by the pool at the masseria or choose one of the several possibilities. What to see in Ostuni area? If seaside, a bike, a walk in the town or another day tour… you will be plenty of possibilities.

Day 6

Otranto and Lecce. The Heart of the Salento region
(full day trip: morning + early afternoon)
free evening*

Otranto is the door to the East. For centuries, it was an outpost of the Byzantine Empire on Apulian soil, as well as the cultural and artistic center of the entire region. Otranto is brightened by the sun reflecting off the turquoise blue water of its harbor onto the bare rocks upon which this small city is built. Be prepared to be stunned by the imposing mosaic floor of the city’s cathedral that dates back to the 12th Century and survived undamaged by the Turkish invasions of the 15th Century. You next go to Lecce, the capital of Apulian baroque style. On a guided tour, you will see elegant baroque palaces and churches constructed from warmly colored Lecce stone. These beautiful buildings surround the magnificent ruins of what was once a Roman city called Lupiae.

Day 7

Free day on your own*

Interested in a wine tour and tasting? Or maybe in visiting a local street food market or a mozzarella cheese factory and taste the best burrata and fresh cheese of Puglia? You can ask this, we will be happy to help you!
