Grilled meat at “Fornelli pronti”

A “Fornello Pronto” is a butchers’ shop, where the costumers can select the meat, which is grilled and consumed on-the-spot at the adjoining dining area. The hometown of fornelli is Cisternino, one of Italy’s Most Beautiful Towns, with a natural terrace overtopping the bucolic countryside of Itria Valley.
If you like meat, in Puglia you’ll find some of the best of the country, especially beef and lamb. But the protagonist of an authentic “Fornelli experience” are the famous bombette: the local rolled pork meat, perfect to be combined with a fave bean purée with wild chicory, or with a delicious potato, baked in the embers!
