Oria and Manduria, on the path of Primitivo wine
A journey through history and wine tasting
Before reaching the “temple” housing Primitivo wine, we will have a walk through the alleys of the ancient town of Oria which is dominated by an imposing medieval castle and the multicolored dome of its cathedral.
Oria is also known for one of the largest and most ancient Jewish communities of Puglia, from Roman times until 1541, when all of the Jews were expelled from the south of Italy by the King of Spain. In the city, you can see the large bronze menorah marking the 15th-century Porta degli Ebrei (Gate of the Jews).
We will continue on the path of Primitivo, reaching Manduria. There we see the town’s impressive and elegant palaces and a 5th Century cathedral. The highlight of our tour is a tasting that features the wines of Puglia. Primitivo is not only an amazing product, but part the history of the region and one of the most popular wines of Italy. We will taste four versions of the Primitivo di Manduria, accompanied by foods that will enhance the characteristics of these wines.
